Hi,

I have replaced the hard drive on my XP machine at home i then put the cd in the drive and boot from it it opens symantec ghost and says it connot do multiple loads then just errors.
I really need to get XP loaded on this machine does anyone have any good ideas or other ways of doing this if i can't use this cd??

I think what you may have is a Restore CD, and not a Full\Upgrade Windows XP disk. Some PC manufacturers put a "Tattoo" on the hard drive that allows for a restore, but will not proceed if it is not there, Hewwlett Packard are one such supplier. If you do indeed have the full XP disk then try booting from a Win 98 floppy and deleting all the partitions. This should give you a clean disk to install to, after booting from the XP CD.

I don't have a full xp disk would it work if i borrowed one from work even though it is OEM?

Yes as long as you use your own number on the sticker on the machine.

you will also need to download the drivers for your equipment.
