My Computer is working fine (Touch wood) but I want to be prepared in case XP fails to Boot Up my BIOS is set so that it will Boot from CD I also have a backup of the C:\win on an external Disk Drive My question is this, when you boot from the CD does it install XP again and then you use restore from your Backup? In anticipation thanks to all.

When you have used the cd to recover XP (not reinstall) you will then have to reinstall Service Pack 1 if you have it now (You lose SP1 when you recover)After that you can use your backup to replace any missing data, but you must ensure that your System is the same as it was before the backup is used

Sorry I think the word used on the Win XP CD is Repair not recover, you just follow the instructions & you shouldn't lose any information
