xp home pfogrammes list

i looked at a friends pc today and was slightly confused about a question regarding programme list in that before someone looked at pc previously they altered her previous config which was that when they selected all programmes they came up as two columns now they only come up as one which you have to scroll up or down how could i correct this please?

Right click Taskbar.properties.Start Menu.Put the dot in start menu.Apply ok.

Right click the Taskbar > Properties > Start Menu tab > tick Start Menu.

right click start menu click properties, its the diferance between having "start menu" and "classic start menu"

i am sure i tried both sorts but it did not seem to change the list of programmes, should i have rebooted between?

if you click between the two you can see them change in the diagram above (does on mine) then click apply click ok

this was not the case when i switched between classic and start menu, thanks so far.

Sounds as though a couple of folders have been deleted, enough to go from a 2 column layout to one big column.
