XP Home Install

I've heard there are often problems and conflicts with an XP installation over an existing Win 98, ie the XP upgrade. I plan to install a new hard drive on the kid's computer, install 98 from scratch, then the upgrade XP Home. Might I regret this and so should I take the plunge and pay the extra for the full version of XP Home and forget about 98 completely?

Any advice gratefully received.

XP is better for me. ;)

Just insert the XP upgrade CD in the drive and reboot. It will install XP as if it was a 'full' version, except it will prompt you to insert the W98 CD (just to confirm that you own a 'qualifying product') - it will then continue merrily installing XP.

Simpler than you thought, huh?
