XP Home, AOL 8.0 and XP inbuilt Firewall Problems

I'm having problems with my XP firewall (Could you tell?!)

I have AOL 8.0, and when I go to my Network Connections, I have the AOL "Dial-on-demand" feature. However, when I am online, it still says I am disconnected.

When I found out about XP's firewall, I went to the network settings, clicked on properties of the "Dial-on-demand" connection, but nothing happens.

Anyone got any ideas?

xp`s firewall will only stop incoming traffic not outgoing.

try zonealarm its free and very good from click here
or outpost is also very good but needs a bit of setting up here and there click here

i use broadband through lan and to access xps firewall i go to controlpanel/networkconnections/ right click my connection then choose properties/advanced

AOL can cause strange things to happen though.

Start > Control Panel > Network & Internet Connections > Network Connections > Right Click on your ADSL modem connection entry > Properties > Advanced tab > remove tick from Internet Connection Firewall.
