XP file system filter manager driver

I'm trying to install Avast on an old laptop for my landlord in the Philippines. There's no restore partition and no disc. An error comes up that's there's no file system filter manager driver which prevents the install. I suspect there's viruses on the machine because there's never been an av on it and I managed to install and run MBAM which picked up 150 trojans which are now cleaned. I tried an online Housecall scan which will only do with IE which isn't on the machine surprisingly as it's part of XP. I can't install IE because the same error comes up. Does anyone have a link for the driver?

have a look to see if there is a folder called i386 on the drive

if so all the relevant XP files are in there.

A repair install by clicking on the Winnt32.exe is the setup program used when you are in Windows. The Winnt.exe file is for installing from DOS.

Thanks FB but there are 3 folders marked i386 none with any system files inside so I'm not sure how the os is operating without them.
