XP faster with or without partitions?

Does anyone know if XP runs faster when everything is in C: or does it supprt partitions at the same speed? (or faster :-)
If it supports partitions, how many? I have 4.
System has 500GB HDD and 4GB RAM. (3GB recognised)

I can't see any reason it would perform differently with or without being partitions. Not to any noticeable extent, anyway.

Of course there are non-performance specific reasons you might or might not partition your drive.

Having the swap partition on a separate physical drive is reputed to be a little faster (depending what you are doing, of course.)
