When I switched on today I got a strange noise and an error message as follows
windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
I have searched around and think I may have the answer, it needs the original XP CD which I dont have.
Long story.....but as it happens....today I have recieved in the post an XP upgrade for another PC.....can I use that CD ?
It only to repair one little error.
Thanks

Another CD should work.

There are several potential causes for this error click here

It has a Barcode reader on the same connection as the keyboard.....I shall take them both out and see what happens.
If not I shall continue with the Disc.
Many thanks
