Have you unlocked the task bar?

Right-click taskbar and select "Lock the Taskbar" (if it is ticked).....

Now create a Folder ANYWHERE on your system (but not on the desktop) and label it what the helll you wish... Copy and paste the files, folders and/or shortcuts you want to be shown on the Taskbar...

Now right-click onto the taskbar again, and select "toolbars->New Toolbar" and "navigate" to the folder you have just made.... Now you can adjust where you wish to place it on the taskbar or even the screen... When you have finished Right-click taskbar and select "Lock the Taskbar".....

Hope this helps....

Try right-clicking the Taskbar and choosing Properties. Then the Start Menu tab, Customize button, Advanced tab again and ensure that Enable dragging and dropping is ticked

Here's another: right click on the Toolbar and select Toolbars then tick Quick Launch. Click and drag your shortcut into the Quick launch part of the toolbar

Any look???

Both solutions appesr possible. Not as good as previous though. I used to just click on an icon on desktop and drag to taskbar. Can't do it that way. All I get is a 'No Entry ' sign.

Still working on your suggestions though.

Many thanks

You must open a portion of the Toolbar to receive your icons first. Go to the right of the Start button and your cursor should show as a horizontal double arrow (pointing both left and right), left click on it and drag to the right, about an inch or two. There are two vertical dotted bars there so make sure that you are only dragging the one to the right. The you will be able to drag and drop your icons into this space. It only copies them, leaving the original on desktop but you can now delete that if you want.

As mattyc said, you must have your toobar unlocked whilst setting this up. Afterwards you can lock it again if you prefer and still add to the Quick Launch toolbar.

the taskbar can be locked to do this

Right click the icon, drag it to the taskbar, let go and select "create shortcut here"
