XP doesn't like network folder named "Backups"

Using XP Pro, it doesn't like a folder named "Backups" on a networked resource (another PC) - says directory name is invalid.

If I rename folder to something else, e.g. "XXX" or even "Backup", it works fine.

Can anyone explain this quirky behaviour?

Seems that it doesn't like the network volume label and a folder within the network volume having the same name.

This is referred to in Microsoft KB199650 and KB 156351 in relation to Office. I've just come across the same symptoms with Explorer!
