XP Device Manager reporting multiple cd-rom drives

  aca 19:33 31 May 04

On HP Imedia. New Phillips cd-r drive fitted. Running XP Home with Nero. Burning audio Cd's complete but then problems playing. Tracks listed in media player but wont play.

Also in Device Manager several "ghost" dives recognised. Have unistalled the lot. On boot up two "real drives" recognised but also 3 that aren't on the system.

Is this something to do with slave/master settings or bios?

Not sure what are implications of this setting

Taken from the help files:

What is Nero ImageDrive?
ImageDrive produces a "virtual" drive which is added to the existing drives and also contains a drive letter. This means that you can allocate a drive letter to an image file and also treat it like an inserted CD. However this does mean that the contents of an image cannot be amended.

Will check as it's mates pc. Could this be causing both the ghost drives(this sounds probable) as well as the problem reading disks
