XP Critical Update Q811493affecting performence?

I read in the last issue that a Windows XP critical update in SP 1 will seriously slow down the computer.
The culprit is Security Update Q811493.
Has anyone deleted this and found an improvement in performance?

I had my hard drive replaced due to a fault on delivery and this update was already installed so I can?t tell if it is affecting the performance.

I don?t know what the update was for so can anyone tell me if it is safe to delete this file.
Cheers Ray

The original Q811493 did affect some computers. It was replaced recently by another version which claims not to cause problems.

This "critical update" is one of many issued by M$ as being totally indispensible to the safe and correct running of a computer. It is also one of many that I totally ignore because they have no relevance to my system.

Thanks Pops

I will leave things as they are as I should think that the file in question must be the latest version
Many thanks
