windows xp home sp2, 3Ghz barton, 1Gb ddr, asus a7n8x-x mobo, 55o watt psu, x800pro graphics, all drivers/patches up to date.

in past whenever i powered up it went striaght to desktop within about 40 seconds. now, whenever i power up it goes to a screen where i have to choose user account - as i'm the only person using this pc, how can i stop this coming up and just going straight to desktop as before -i'm not aware of any settings changes being made.

many thanks

Go to control panel > user accounts > change the way users log on or off and tick the welcome screen.

This should take you straight to windows.
