XP cant find pen drives

  autolycus 19:13 03 Jan 07

XP recognises that pen drive is there but that's it. It can't find it. Have tried all usb ports with same result. Could a file have been lost or corrupted. Also tried several different makes of drive but with no success.

Any suggestions please?

is there an entry in your bios to enable usb?

Do other devices work with the usb ports ?

If not, leave the pendrive connected and goto device manager and uninstall all usb headings and reboot.XP will load the generic drivers and hopefully this may help.

Obviously try the above suggestion first from Howard64 if no other usb devices work.

You may be able to access the drive from MY Computer.
