XP Boot up

  The Bard 15:20 04 Feb 03

I have a dual boot XP/98SE machine. Sometimes (but not always) when booting up, the machine seems to 'hang'. I then get error message "Searching for SCSI..Not found
Boot failure
Insert boot diskette in A:".

Re-booting does not cure the problem. I have to turn off at the mains, wait a short while and then start up again. It will ALWAYS boot up after this.

Other times it will boot up ok.

Sounds like you have corrupted file.. Do you have a SCSI card??

Now try a controlled Boot in Run, type msconfig then click selective startup and see if you still get the same error at boot.. Please reoprt back how it goes

Sorry, have no idea if I have SCSI card. Have ethernet card which came with machine but I do not use, apologies for ignorance.Have tried selective start, but boots up in normal way.
