Upgraded from Athlon 1.3 to a Athlon XP 2800 on a EPOX 8RDA+ M/B.

OS = WIN2K

HD = Maxtor 120 Gb (Primary Master)

Sony DVD RW (Sec Master)

Creative DVD.(Sec Slave)

2 x 256 DR mem (3200)

PNY Verto 128Mb AGP Graphics

The problem is that I get an error "ntoskrnl is missing please replace file".

If I reboot and enter the BIOS\Advanced Chipset and set the FSB to 100 Mhz it will boot up ok
but this shows the CPU as 1250, not 2800+

Any ideas greatly appreciated

No joy with that Vog. Hunted around a bit on the MS support pages as I have Win2k not XP

Tried copying the ntoskernl.exe from my other WIN2k machine TNA same problem when I set the Adv Chipset FSB in the BIOS to above 133 Mhz.

I'll try one of the EPOX forums and AMD next

Thanks

the clock FSB should be set at 166MHz, with a multiplier of 13.5 for a thoroughbred core and 12.5 for a barton.
