hi,just a general question, i have a genuine xp installation disc can i install this on my laptop aswell as my main pc ,or will i need to buy another disc to register with microsoft

You will need to by another disk in order to register with MS and to activate it.

Then load it and get it activated, they can only say no.

It don't cost to remove it.

You may like to check the MS OEM key on the PC that as the XP operating system on with the one the case Mine are different key's so so I can install mine with the key on the case on another computer as this as not been used and is for the XP disc that I was given with the Computer. But if your Restore setup does not work on the computer that the OS is now on and you loose the key then you are only left with the one key. You can use a program to check and compare the key with that on your computer with Belarc click here

Once you have this key of the computer you can use this OEM key to reinstall with the MS CD also
