XBox lags since new router installed.

Hi All,

My son used to play on the Xbox360 via ethernet cable with no problems.
Recently we have gone wireless with a Edimax AR-7084ga, the host computer is upstairs, downstairs is a laptop picking up a strong signal with no problems at all, the Xbox has a wireless adapter working fine and is also downstairs, my son now has trouble playing his online games and complains that there is lag and the signal is always on red or orange it just does not run smooth all the time and it's getting him mad, I called Edimax tech support today who recommended trying a stronger antenna cable to boost the signal, has anyone used a booster antenna ? and do they work? or can anyone help out with this query,
Many thanks,

Have you enabled port-forwarding the the XBox or specific games?
