x64 Freezing or BSoD

  FastaBenj 20:19 20 Apr 08

I've just built myself a new computer and I'm having problems with Vista X64 ultimate it will freeze randomly and will not recover or it will throw up a random BSoD (sometimes Irql not equal or less, sometimes registry error and sometimes driver errors) and it still does it in safe mode (though not as frequently).
It will run the 32 bit version of Vista ultimate perfectly but it does the same with the X64 version of XP, I think it must be hardware problem.
Here are my specs:

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 motherboard
AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition processor
Inno 3D Geforce 9800 GTX 512ram Graphics card
2x 2gb sticks of crucial DDR2 ram
2X Western Digital Caviar 500gb hard drives
Hyper Type R 600w power supply
HP 940i DVD Rewriter

I've tried the f3 & f4 BIOS for my motherboard
I've tested my ram with memtest86+
I've tried it with just one stick of ram
I've tried my 6800 xt graphics card
I'm not using RAID

It is driving me insane, if anyone has any idea please help

Do you have anything else connected?

Sound like a 64bit driver issue.
Go into problems and solutions in the control panel to see if any issues show up.

Only other things connected are my keyboard, mouse and moniter

I had a similar problem with Vista64 with Abit board a while ago and updated chipset drivers fixed it for me.

Thanks everyone but I'm still having problems with this, from what I've read there is an instability in the hypertransport on some 790fx mobo's so i'm assuming this may be the problem the solution is to underclock the hypertransport or overclock the northbridge, but with me being new to gigabyte boards i have no idea what the settings should be in the BIOS.
If anyone knows can you let me know? cheers
