Wrong Pioneer Drive?

  fazza8 17:33 08 Apr 05

I bought a Pioneer 108 from Big Pockets answering a special offer for £29.99. They said they were waiting for new orders so I waited a few days extra and it arrived today. It says it is a DVR-MCC. Is this really a 108? I've never heard of it.

It would appear that the MCC is a slower drive than the 108.

The Pioneer DVR-109 is now priced at £37.49 including VAT at BigPockets according to its news e-mail of April 7th.

As they have a very good reputation, give them a bell, voice your misgivings and I believe that they will sort it out to your satisfaction.

It has worked for me in the past, and they even upgraded at no extra cost.

The Pioneer 108 is an 8x DVD+/DVD- and 2.4x Dual Layer DVD Writer but, even at £29.99, is an inferior buy to the 109 at £37.99.

In the forum from my first link, it is being described as a modified 108, which to my thinking, does not seem a very good deal.

Think I'll try and get them to swap for a 109. Thanks guys
