Worth the upgrade!

Hello I know know what memory I need but before I order it I wan't opinions on weather it is worth upgrading from 512MB too 1024 Mb of Ram! Will there be much of an improvment? Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz processor

What will you be doing with the machine? 512 is more than enough in most circumstances.

Just playing games, using broadband the usual

playing games, using broadband : two very different requirements for RAM.

The newest games require more RAM and a good graphics card - they will appreciate more RAM if you don't have a great graphics card.

Anyway, RAM is pretty cheap these days - I would go for it in your circumstances. But wait and see what others suggest.

512 Suits video editing, photographs and games, 1Gb of memory is overkill unless you are running 300 Quake 3's in the background while surfing the net and editing your home movie.

Your best bet is a new graphics card, I say a GeForce FX5800 for best performance.

I have a ATI Radeon 9700 pro

Well then that should be Ok.

If your performance is poor, then clean up your system.

512 more than enough for what you want if you want an idea of how much ram your using do CTRL/ALT/DELETE click on the performance tab and then run a game for 5-10 minutes and keep doing the CTRL/ALT/DELETE every couple of minutes and you'll probably find that at most your using about 350-400mb
