A bit of a discussion at work on the following, hope you can help to sort this one out for me?

Once a system is infected with a worm can this worm shut down the computer if it is not on line.

My thoughts on this is Yes as the system is infected, the worm will do what it is programed to do.

Yup, the worm will do what it is coded to do. If that is shut the system down then that is what it will do. Being on or off line will make no differnce once you are infected.

There are some worms that will need to be online to do their damage but much better to stop them being there in the first place.
