Working with an External Hard-drive.

Hi people,

This may seem a stupid question but i'm thinking about investing in an external hard-drive. Can I run applications off, or is it just solely for usage as photo, excel and word docs and alike.

Reason I ask, is I'm thinking about buying a PC and running applications (database) on both, this seems the most ideal solution to get an external hdd which I can plug into either PC or laptop.

Would this work, or would I need to get an OS on the external hard-drive. How would the register be affected.

Yes, you can run any application off it providing that you have an OS on your main drive.

But you must have it plugged in and switched on when you start and Exit Windows
