What "Work" menu?

Anyway, to get rid of any Menu item, View/Toolbars/Customise

Then click on the Menu item and holding down the left mouse button, drag the menu item off the menu bar.

VoG the "Work" menu is one of the built in menus (put in place as you outline) and is useful for quick access to commonly used documents. You can't delete an entry in the normal way (right click and drag off) it has a key combination which I have forgotten.

The combination just for information (found on the MS Word Newsgroup) is: Ctrl, Alt, hyphen
