Word/Outlook default client problems

Help!!! My PC has just decided to play silly buggers!! When I try to send a document from within Office 2000 (ie “File/Send to/ Mail recipient as an attachment”) I get the following message…

“Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfil the messaging request.
Please run microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client.””

Outlook is my default mail client……it says so!!!! When I click “OK” I get…..

“Log On failed. You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book.
Error code “unspecified Error””

Any ideas as to what might be the cause and how to fix it??? All help greatfully received!!!

Thanks for the response....it looked perfect.....unfortunately no joy...Outlook was already set as my e-mail program. I tried resetting but still I get the message!!!!
