Word Spellcheck

Does anyone know of a more sophisticated spell-check that can but used as an add-on with Word.

It always seems to me that a spell check should learn from corrections and accumulate a database of typos for automatic correction.

One can use the auto-correct facility, but this has to be added to manually and has a number of rather unfriendly features. Additionally the Word dictionary seems not very good at suggesting alternatives to typos that do not begin with the same letter, so that a word with the first letter misspelt gets a list of alternatives most beginning with the same incorrect letter despite its being quite obviously wrong.

Any ideas?
