I'm trying to start word and get the error message:

Windword has caused an error in WINWORD.EXE

Winword will now close.

I've tried re-booting but to no avail. and tried the MS help page but can't find a similar error.

Search for the file "Normal.dot" and delete it, the re-open Word

Exit Word. Do a search for NORMAL.DOT (there may be more than one. Rename all instances to ABNORMAL.DOT then restart Word.

If this does not work, please post back.

Belated snap!

Won't let me delete the last normal.dot - the systems telling me I can't delete the file - access denied. The Source file may be in use.

Reboot and start in Safe Mode. Then do as above.
