I cant get the '~' ( forget what its called ) to work in Dos from within Windows or from the prompt.

Any suggestions, please ?

Do you get any symbol at all when you press that key? If you get a different symbol what is it? Which version of Windows have you got?

It'll be because your keyboard is not set up correctly to match it's layout.

I presume we're talking UK keyboard layout here??

Can you say what OS in order to specify how the keyboard language is set up, please.

It certainly will, DOS needs the correct code page specified if you use anything other than a US layout keyboard (the DOS default layotu).
