Won't recognise mouse/keyboard

Trying to get an old comp. up and running, but have the above problem.

The message requests us to close comp and attach mouse. We have done this and rebooted, but this has not worked. The keyboard is also not effective. The o/s is Windows 98.

Any ideas please?

You may need to install new drivers for the mouse. This happened to me recently and I went to the main Microsoft web site and downloaded new drivers and it was all fine after that.

The problem is that Windows 98 may no longer be supported.

Try installing drivers, and see if that solves the problem.

Have checked the download section and cannot find mouse/keyboard drivers.

Where will I find/how will I download drivers?

In the event I find the necessary drivers, would I easily be able to put them on a floppy disk and download onto my sons comp. or do I need something to unzip files?

Any help greatfully received!

You haven't got them swapped over in their connectors have you? - we've all done it!
