Won't play video clips

  benson68 15:44 10 Jun 08

My computer no longer plays video clips, sent as email attachments.
The error message say "this file does not have a program associated with it....Create an association in the folder options control panel".

I've found the folder options, in Control Panel, but how do I create an association?

I've got Windows Media Player & VLC

what is the file extension of the emailed video?

You could check whether it will open first by opening Media Player and the open the file from there. If not you may need to download a plug in. Or you can right click on the folder and select open with and choose whatever programme you want.

I've tried right clicking on it, but "open with2 isn't one of the options for an attachment.

It's a WAV file, so I can't understand why it won't play!

Open My Computer, at the top select Tools>Folder Options>File Types, scroll down to WAV and select it then click on Change, select either WMP or VLC as the default programme to open it and make sure there is a tick in the "Always use the selected programm...." box, click OK and then Close to exit.
Any WAV files should now open with your chosen programme.
