WMP 11 "connect a burner & restart the player"

I received automatic update to WMP and now have WMP 11.
I am now no longer able to burn cd's
When I click the 'burn' tab I get the message
'connect a burner and restart the player'
I never had this problem with the previous WMP version (I dont know which it was).

Also when I insert a CD/DVD into either drive
cd-rw or the DVD player it no longer asks which program I wish to open with.

Are these 2 problems related ?
and is there a solution ?
or can I go back to the previous version of WMP?

Please advise, my daughter has now also had the same update to her lap top and same problem, the internal RW drive is no longer recognised.

thank you

Alan

I have had problems with WMP 11 too.My solution was to go Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove progs.Scroll to WMP11 and click Remove. This will roll you back to a previous version 10,9 or whatever.Hope this helps.
