I have Netgear Rangemax DG834PNUK and have found it brillant (touch wood, it is supposed to eliminate black spots and have it two rooms away and never dips out. I have installed lots of netgear routers for others and found them very good and easy to install. Also installed Belkin and they are v.good added bonus of free support.

The Netgear DG834GT, Speedtouch 585 and the Belkin 7633 can all be tweaked if necessary to cope well with up to 8 Meg.

The 54/108 Mbps only refers to the speed you can share files through you own network and has no effect on internet speed. You can get some very reasonably priced 54 Mbps routers .

Standard cabled DG834 is very good and my son has bought a wireless version, the only problem he had was mistakenly setting up fixed channels instead of using auto
