Could I ask please is there a way to be certain that once a pc and laptop share a wireless network - that they cannot connect to each other or more importantly share files - they remain solely independent.
Thanks

Assuming you are using Vista:

Control Panel - Network & Internet

In Network & Sharing Centre - Set up File sharing.

You can control it from there.

If you do not "share" any thing (files/printers) then they cannot be accessed by others, so simply-do not share.

Thanks very much for the help. The question actually applied amongst friends but does the same info apply in open wireless areas like railway stations for instance - security wise.

So long as you click the right boxes it doesn't matter where you are.
