im confused as to the security on my wireless network. i have a netgear wnr834b router which works fine. the only thing is i dont seem to need to put in my password when i start the internet ,it starts automatically, whereas if i try to connect to any other networks in my area(just to prove a point)i need to enter a password. is it recognising my laptop or am i doing something wrong. im obviously worried that anyone can use my network.any other security tips would also be appreciated

when in the list there should be a padlock or similar on the icon of your network if there is a password attached to this.

Assuming you put a password in (WAP or WEP) originally, your confuser will remember it.
