Wireless Security

I know it is good practice to change the default user name and password for wireless routers but is it possible for someone to log in as administrator wirelessly to my router if they know my username/password even though my network is encrypted?

Many thanks.

No, not unless they know your encryption key.

Disable remote admin in your router if is available so that no one can access it over the internet.

Don't use WEP as it can be broken, use WPA with a good passphrase.
