On a home network using ntl broadband would 54mbps be enough or would 125mbps be better? Would I need higher speed network adapters for the 125 mbps router?

You won't get anywhere near either of the speeds you mention so it doesnt matter which you choose?

Oh, should have known. My ntl broadband is 2mb so theoretically that should be the maximum I can get.

Sort of. Thats the max net speed you will get, not the max network speed. Using your first router, 54 meg is the peak data rate on the wireless segment of that net connection. The Sustained Transfer Rate will be a lot less though.

There is a differnce between a net connection and a network connection.

That said the max net connection you will get through either router will be 2 meg.
