Wireless Router Query

I have purchased a laptop with wireless card built in.
I have just signed up to an ISP and wish to use the net.
Can I purchase a Netgear DG834G Wireless Router and have it connected downstairs at my phone point and use my laptop upstairs wirelessly?
I know its wireless but I wasnt too sure if you require one comp hard wired and then any others can be run wirelessly.

You can as long as that model is an ADSL Modem Router - which i believe it is.

You'll need to connect it with a cable initially (an Ethernet is provided with the router normally) Once set up and secured you can remove the cable and connect wirelessly.

Thanks Paul.

I just noticed this router comes with a USB2 dongle. Do I need to use this in my laptop if it already has built in wireless?

No not if already wireless enabled.
