Wireless router - OK to remove unwired computer?

Hi,

I have a desktop and a laptop. Can I run them both wirelessly off one router? My current setup has the desktop hard wired into the router and my laptop wireless.

However, to improve the router signal I want to move it somewhere else in the house ie no where near the desktop! If I get a wireless adapter for the desktop, will this be OK? Any disadvantages of doing this?

I currrenlt have an old Belking router and are abaout to switch to belkin n router - does this make any difference?

Thanks

Forgot to add that I'm using a modem router and want both to access the internet.

As long as you get the correct ( compatible ) wireless adapter for the desktop then it will be fine .
