Wireless router

Hi all. I have a netgear wireless router, I also have a laptop that uses the router
to share it's internet connection. I have been told that I do not need a firewall for the laptop as the router already has one. Is this correct? Also do I need antivirus protection for the laptop, say AVG or Zone alarm.

A router's hardware firewall offers protection for incoming internet traffic. What it doesn't do is to control which applications in your PC can access the internet and, it is for this reason, that a software firewall should still be installed in the PC.

You do need AntiVirus software too.
