wireless printing

I have installed to my laptop a printer with ethernet connection to wirelessly print. However I had to uninstall my firewall when installing it as advised and got a virus so then had to do a system restore and lost everything. How could I install it without this happening.

Hi, why print wirelessly? unless you have a small home network, ie Desktop/Laptop/Printer.
I have such a small home network with laptop printing wirelessly (used the normal Connection Wizard in XP). I left my firewall and avg etc running throughout. All worked fine first time.

Is your Windows up to date? You shouldn't be getting a virus by simply turning your firewall off for a few minutes.
