Wireless networking

Have set up a wireless network between laptop and desktop. Have turned off the firewalls. The desktop says it is connected, but the laptop only says 'acquiring network address' but won't connect. any ideas?

Have you enabled "Internet Connection Sharing" on the internet connection in the Desktop PC? This is necessary for it to allocate an IP address by DHCP to the laptop.

If not using "ICS", you will need to allocate a fixed IP address to the laptop.
