hi

Im totally new to networking and am thinking of setting up a wireless network. Got a 1mb broadband connection and two decent spec pcs with winXP, a printer and a scanner.
Problem is, I have no idea about wireless networking/internet sharing. For example, if you have two pcs accessing an internet connection at the same time, will it run at half speed?

Any suggestions and good sites with SIMPLE diagrams etc would be welcomed.

thanks

Your speed should stay the same but, you may notice a slight dip in speed if one machine is downloading a large file.

Not unless both were simultaneously doing something very intensive, such as large file downloads. Web browsing on one while downloading on the other won't cause any noticeable slowdown - it won't restrict both PCs to a half speed connection!

Best option for independent internet access is to use a "Router", otherwise you need to set up "Internet Connection Sharing" in a 'host' PC, which must always be running for the 'client' PC to have access.
