wireless network problems

Hi All

I am trying to connect a laptop and a pc with a wirless access point. The laptop has a wireless net card fitted and installed with software provided.
It all seems to be working ok. IP address has been generated by the software and the signal strength is 100%.
The pc is connected to a 3com officenet wap/modem/router, via RJ45 cable.
Both have windows ME installed.
The laptop can see itself and the pc but cannot access the pc. The pc can only see itself.
I have used the home networking wizard but it doesnt make a difference.
As a complete beginner at this what do I need to setup ?

Thanks in advance

I assume that you are using software Firewalls on both the Laptop and PC. The Firewalls must be configured so that they recognise that the channel is trusted. If you let me know which Firewalls you are using I may be able to help further.

Had a similar problem when I first started with W2K,way I got it working was:

On machine 1 set up a share to the area you want to access, then map a network drive from machine 2 (you may have to log on using machine 1's Administrator name and password whilst on machine 2 - connect as other user)e.g. \\Machine_1_name\C$

Good luck! - you may have to keep trying to connect as it takes a few goes normally for me
