wireless network card

I was using my wireless network card- plugged in through the USB port at the back of the computer last night when it stopped working with a popping noise! Now i know this is bad news, but i am unsure how bad this news is.. Can my actiontec 082.11b USB wireless adapter (TM) be repaired or is it curtains for this? If so, it can go on display in school as an example of aa wireless network card. Very sad!

If the card has an independent power supply you should have no problems other than a dead card, however, if it obtained its power from the computer, you may find that the power to run USB devices directly from the computer is no longer available. If such is the case, it will require the attention of a qualified technician to repair.
