Hi

I have seen numerous posts on this subject but have yet to find the answer to my problem.

i've just installed a thomson speedtouch 576 wireless router on the main computer (XPSP2) which connects using AOL(Hell) and its up and running fine.
I've installed a wireless USB adapter on a second PC(XPHome) and appear to have connected to the network and have a good signal strength etc.

But! Cannot figure out how to actually get onto the internet on the second PC and I've been playing around with connection settings for days. I think I'm going mental!
Can anyone help? Please!!
Please!

Dave

Here's the results of ipconfig on the main computer incase that helps!

The IP config reading would be better from the trouble PC. Also check that the firewall is allowing the connection.

I have tried disabling the firewall, its a McAffee, but that did nothing. Is there likely to be another firewall running, maybe one included in windows software?

I've also tried to ping 192.168.1.64 (presumably the routers address) from the wirelessly connected (second) pc and it recieved no response. Just in case this helps!

You have to get the settings from the Router Setup Page, Like SSID, Profile and Password, then double click the wireless icon in the system tray this should allow you to put the settings in for wireless

  biggindave 23:44 17 Sep 07

I've already done that.
The wireless adapter recognises the connection and connects with good signal strenth

  biggindave 14:47 18 Sep 07

I've also managed to get the routers page up on both pc's. I've tried the internet connectivity test on both and it comes back posititve for all. All seems well but still no internet.

Is there anyone out there that can help?
Please.

Your IP and subnet mask are different they should read the same with the exception of the IP last octet number. 192.168.1.64
for machine 1 and 192.168.1.65 for machine 2. Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Have you ran the wireless network wizard, as this should set all this up for you?

I've got it working!

It was something to do with the TP/ICP settings, but I'm not sure specifically what did it. Think it was something to do with the filtering on the client computer side.

Anyhoo..

Thanks for your help guys.
Now I can relax!
