Wireless Lan card and WinTV card clash

My Hauppauge WinTV card works well. However, as soon as I install the drivers and then the Safecom 802.11g wireless lan card ... the TV card is knocked out and becomes an 'unknown' Multimedia device ( yellow exclamation) mark in Device Manager

The LAN card also becomes an 'unknown' Multimedia device ( yellow exclamation) mark in Device Manager ... or, if I move it to another spare PCI slot, it becomes an 'unknown' Network Controller device.

Removing the LAN card immediately restores WinTV. Uninstalling WinTV does nothing to help the LAN card work - it remains as an 'unknown' device that cannot find the software it needs to function.

The card worked fine in Windows98 and WindowsME - I'm now using a computer running Windows XP.

Could this be an incurable problem, please?
