Wireless internet

I am new to this, so my apologies if i have posted this in the wrong place!

I am trying to get onto my virgin media broadband by wireless, everyone else's computersc in my house are working although i have a laptop that had a previously installed belkin wireless adapter. I no longer have this now and i uninstalled it from my computer yesterday. When i click onto the windows wireless option to see my available connections i get a message that says "windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another programme to manage this wireless connection, use that soft ware". It then says some thing about Wireless zero configuration.

My housemates computers find the wireless fine but mine wont, is there any way i can over ride this and get windows to find the wireless connection?

As I have said before Belkin is now uninstalled, although I do have some BT stuff on my computer from my previous internet connection. Will that make a difference?

If anyone can help I will be extremley grateful!

Many thanks!

I've read this a couple of times and think this may be the answer.

If your laptop doesn't have wireless built in, you will need to reinstall your belkin wireless adaptor.
