Wireless connection visible but unable to connect

I've just bought a new vista laptop with integrated wireless.Already have a home wireless connction through a Netgear router that works fine on my old laptop using a netgear PC card.

On my new laptop, I can see the Netgear network, but when I try to connect, I get the message unable to connect. Vista diagnostics draw a blank. I can connect directly through the wired ports on the router with no problem, just unable to use it wirelessly on that PC.

Any advice please?

Just a quick update. I've tried my PC card in the new laptop and that works fine. Do I need to do something with my WLAN card to get it to connect?

Have you set the router up for MAC filtering , if so you will need to add the mac address of the built in wireless on the laptop before it will connect .
