Can anyone help please

I have a wireless connection at home from which my laptop works fine .I have now bought a wireless usb adapter so that my old computer can also get connected.Everything has installed fine and it says that the computer is connected but for some reason I still cant connect to the internet.

I really dont know much about computers,so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

My computer runs with windows xp and the usb adapter is a net gear.
Thanks

Try help and support and just type in wireless or wireless connection and see if you get any help from there.
Like yourself I know not a lot about wireless connections.
Have you tried switching the modem and router off for 2 minutes then turn the modem back on wait for a minute and then turn the wireless back on.

Try resetting the winsock , open a command prompt ( start/run/ type in CMD in the box and press enter .

Next , type in without the quotation marks ....
" netsh winsock reset catalog " and press enter , the PC will tell you it needs to reboot so type in " exit " press enter , then type in " exit " again and press enter , then it will reboot , when it has finished restarting try reconnecting again .
