Hi, I'm presently connect to the internet via a wired broadband modem. I would like to know if I can connect a wireless adapter to my PC (so my laptop can access internet wirelessly) and my PC still connected to internet? thanks.

Your best bet would be to get a wireless router to connect to the modem (if cable ISP) or a combined modem/router (if ADSL ISP)

Sorry I should have added that way you can still connect your desktop via wire and laptop wirelessly at the same time or one at a time.
If you laptop is a bit older and is not wireless enabled then you can get a USB adapter
